Recently I’ve enjoyed two excellent conversations with my friend and fellow pastor Dennis Sanders at his En Route podcast. Dennis is an interesting thinker and generous conversationalist, and I appreciated the chance to talk with him. In an internet landscape where bombast and extremism take up all the oxygen, Dennis is offering a refreshing alternative. Check out his podcast here!
Our first conversation was based around issues raised in my Firebrand piece, “The Scandal of Particularity, Black Lives, and Jesus.” In that piece I tried to explore the phrase “black lives matter” from a theological lens, and I was honored to talk through those questions with an African-American pastor. You will find a shorter snippet here, and the full conversation here:
Our more recent conversation focused on Christian responses to the Covid-19 pandemic. I wrote a piece on the blog here about what it has been like being married to a physician, and it was fun to discuss these and related issues with Dennis. You can find that full conversation here:
I’m grateful to Dennis for these conversations and I look forward to more in the future. I appreciate anyone who does not fit into a “box,” and Dennis certainly fits that bill.
Give him a listen!
